2011 Quilt Challenge

In keeping with the theme of the 2011 quilt show, the spring 2011 challenge will start with a paintchip grab. At the June 2010 meeting (and each meeting of the 2010-2011 guild year), the challenge committee will have paint-chip strips in a brown bag (no peeking!). Each strip has four coordinating colors. Any quilter wanting to participate in the challenge will pick one paint strip from the bag. The challenge will be to make a quilt using fabrics as closely matched to those four colors as possible. All four colors (and no others) must be used in the quilt.

Entries into the challenge need to be finished and will be due at the beginning of the April 8, 2011 meeting. Method of piecing, quilting, and size is the quilter’s choice. Pieced, appliqued, or quilted clothing items and accessories, as well as quilts, will be accepted. Only one item per member may be entered.

SAVE YOUR PAINT CHIP!! It needs to be attached to your challenge entry for viewers’choice voting by the membership. Prizes for this challenge will be 1st place $50, 2nd place $30, and 3rd place $20.

If you were not at the June meeting and didn’t get a paint strip (or you changed your mind!) and want to get started over the summer, call Elli McEvoy at 439-0009 and arrangements will be made to get a strip to you.
