Complete the appropriate workshop registration form(s) included above (or register online below).

  1. Make check payable to Q.U.I.L.T., Inc., and mail to:

    Slingerlands, NY 12159.
  2. A list of materials and supplies, if required, will be posted on this page or, if needed, will be sent to you in a self-addressed stamped envelope, if you include one with your registration check.  If the workshop is filled, you will be put on a waiting list and your check will not be deposited until you are accepted for the workshop.
    For online Zoom workshops, you will receive a unique invitation that may only be used by you and can’t be shared to connect to the Zoom session for the workshop.
  3. The cost of a workshop may be reduced if we get a lot of participants.  We generally need a minimum of 10 participants to hold a workshop.  Refunds will be made if applicable.

Refunds for cancellations will only be made if your place can be filled from a waiting list or you can find a substitute.  Workshop and waiting list policies are in the Q.U.I.L.T., Inc.’s Members Guide.

Join the Running With Scissors team and learn this unique method to make a six-pointed star in a square using the new Six In A Square tool (required – $31.96). Project size 44″ x 44″. Wall hanging or baby quilt.

Take your 60-degree skills to the next level and learn the Nested Star Technique while creating this beautiful table runner. Once you have learned this technique the design possibilities are endless.  Project Size: 19” x 43” Table Runner.  Required: Six in a Square© Tool, and (included) Nested Star Sprint.

Everyone needs a tote bag, and this one is functional and also shows off your amazing quilting skills. Use HSTs and then quilt with a free-motion pattern or straight-line quilting. Includes an internal zippered pocket, an external pocket perfect for your cell phone, and a ‘D’ ring or clip to hook your keys or town park pass to your bag. Also includes a rigid bottom insert.

Registration: $50 for members/$60 for non-members

Scrap Busting with Joann Waidelich

Full-day workshop (9:30 am – 4 pm)

The perfect class for beginners and more advanced quilters interested in learning Shannon Brinkley’s simple, fun raw-edge applique technique, as well as basic and free motion quilting techniques. Using a collage process, participants can choose from a variety of patterns (purchased on-site or in advance from Joann) and take away a finished or nearly finished quilt top.

Half-day workshop (12:30 – 3:30 pm)
 Features layered/topstitching.  Gentle rolling hills of green fabric strips combine with distant peaks to create peaceful vistas.  Include a lake or a field of wildflowers.  The variations are endless!  You will also learn how to embellish the landscape with beads, yarn, and Angelina fibers to give it some sparkle.  Finished size: approximately 9” x 12” without borders (size varies)

Bring your own photo of a work of art, and we will explore the many ways you can take inspiration from it to develop your own quilt block or full quilt design. We will break down the image to its most basic elements, create a rough drawing, and then start building a test block using improv techniques. David will demonstrate sewing curves without pins, and without fear.

We will start with a simple, modern color palette of neutral fabrics with a flash of color. Clean lines combined with simp
le design give each tiny composition a sophisticated feeling. Since we are working very small, this is a great project for using small scraps and bits of special fabric. Participants will learn the quilt-as-you-go method.  Hand stitching adds a sleek, linear element. Finishing techniques will be demonstrated.
